Why are most things about the web so confusing??
Okay, I’m about to scream… After I dropped Caleb off at school today I came right home and to get to work figuring out how to optimize my blog and our soon to be web site. (For those that haven’t a clue what I’m talking about, optimizing is supposed to get you seen more easily on internet searches.) And can you believe it? I got everything all figured out and before I start listing myself I discover there are differing opinions of whether or not to optimize your site! For crying out loud, this is bananas. So now I’m left with: to optimize or not to optimize, that is the question. Then our computer isn’t processing the editing software correctly. The audio and sound clips have a tendency to either disappear or reappear somewhere else. Sooo, looks like I’ll be bundling her up and taking her to the great and wonderful Apple store again. . .Blah
On the upswing I found a terrific site that is lifting me from the purple haze of internet jargon. They have a wonderful page that’s focuses on on all those stray technical words and breaks them broken down into bite sized pieces. Kinda like school, first you learn your vocab words, then you read a story so you actually understand it. I feel so enlightened I’m considering establishing them as my new religion and worshipping them.
I also entered the deep waters of getting our own web site. So far I’ve only splashed around and my head is floating with the zillion hosting sites and the thick books at the book stores. Sometimes I wish life were like the first Model T Fords: of course you can get your car in any color you want, so long as it’s black. On the upswing I did secure our web domain name. I went to the site intending to just purchase a .com and encountered a slew of other options like: .biz, .info…. Whenever I clicked to check the info as to why I would want all the different variations, the explanations were vague and each basically ended with: “purchasing this ‘option’ will protect your domain name all the more”. All I can say is I feel like I encountered the internet Mafia: too afraid not to give them my money and bought most options.
We’ve re-named our company, well actually, ‘eh um, I get the credit for this one, we’re now: Free The Mind Productions. This is the perfect name for us, you’ll see.
And. . . I saved the best for last: we ordered our professional camera and lapel mics today!!!!! They’ll be here in a couple days.
