Making progress with web paging . . .
Let’s see what did I do today? Thinking, thinking. . . well besides 3 hours of necessary misc. for our business, I waded into Joomla 1.5. Armed with a Joomla Dummies book I began, jammed up, called my help line at FatCow, lassoed a cowboy, got some help, got back at it andddd . . . an hour or so later when John, John my son, not my partner John, come I had made a teensy bit of progress and was stuck again. But I had an idea. He agreed. He began: John likes to drive, be it a car or a computer, besides he’s much more a computer techy in these picky areas. The next hour and half went like this:
John: clicking, more clicking, a lot of reading Joomla on-line page supports, more clicking
Me: I began to organize my two file drawers right next to my computer desk
John: more clicking, sighing, “What’s the deal . . .”
ME: I got an Edy’s frozen Fruit Bar: grape-yummie, John didn’t want one, (Phew, more for me!) new folders, labeled, dropped into hanging files
John: clicking, shifting in his seat, “This shouldn’t be this hard . . . ”
Me: another fruit bar: grape, John didn’t want one, (Double Phew!) drawers closed, supplies put away, trash, trashed, sitting back watching, dialed a cowboy and viola this one gave a much more accurate and detailed explanation, and a book title that he just used, “Thank you, have a great rest of the day, goodbye!”, another phone call: Books A Million: “Do you have the book, ‘Joomla 1.5 A User’s Guide’?” “No”, another phone call: Barnes and Nobel: “Do you have the book ‘Joomla 1.5 A User’s Guide’?” “No but our store in Hoover does and I reserved one for you.” “Thank you very much I appreciate it! Have a great evening!” Clothes changed to proper going out attire, shoes on: my cute new pair ![]()
Us: out the door, into John’s zippy little red Honda, crossing town–he’s not shy about maneuvering in and out of traffic or pushing the line with the red lights, into B & N, “Hi I have a book on hold, my name is Theresa.” “Certainly, let me get that.” Checking . . . “What’s your name again?”, “Theresa”, “I’m not finding it but I will!”, “Oh, okay, I’ll go check the shelves while you look. Thanks.” Checking the shelves . . . there it is, snap it up along with a back up book just in case and a better book on WordPress: going to return the other, checking out, zipping home, quick stop for a Papa John’s pizza: John is starving, returning home, eating pizza, stacking dishes in sink, sitting down at computer, taking deep breaths, cracking open new book, beginning to read, things seem a little clearer . . . , Blessing and Sarah drop in
we chat have a nice time, they leave, back at it . . . clicking . . . typing . . . then magically, 9 hours since we started, it happens we preview a page and there is content and where it is supposed to be!! High fiveing, a little in the chair gig, BIG grins, and a sudden hunger to do more. We’re hooked. “When can we get together tomorrow?” Between 2-4:30 during John’s break and after my work and then after John’s night shift waiting tables at P.F. Changs, 10ish. “GREAT!” Hugs. “Till then . . .”
Then to me, here visiting with you.
Talk at ya later,
Theresa
