Need to be me. Got to be me. Working at being me. Working it out in my life. Working it out in my blog.
Love that quote. Absolutly love it. Spectacular. Oscar Wilde had something there. Almost profound.
To add to that profundity I’m pulling this direct quote from the new blog I follow, “Flirting with Forty” Great name, great blog. I saw it about a week ago and kept meaning to post it. But for some reason it never clicked out. But now I’m glad it didn’t because it marries perfectly with Wilde’s quote that I picked up from a tweet. Here’s what “flirting” said:
“Why is it that we wait for someone else to give us permission to live our lives the way we want to? Is this what almost being 40 feels like? If so then I like this feeling!
I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION!
I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION!
I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION!”
Okay, so now I have a new post to put on my bathroom mirror. Here’s what it’ll look like:
Be MYSELF, everyone else is taken.
I give MYSELF permission!
I highly recommend this for anyone struggling to be themselves. To live their lives their way. And then possibly, to follow a life long dream. I know I am on both counts. FINALLY! I spent almost my entire adult life not really being me, but wanting to, and wanting my own business, and not having one. I waited a very long time to do these two things. Too long. So if you need someone to follow. Follow me. Because I’m on my way. I’m turning “notting” and “wanting” into doing. Everyday I’m pursuing my business. And everyday I’m purposefully discovering who I am, so I can be me. Just me. Plain old me! Me! No apologies. No excuses. Just me, pursuing my dream.
And if you need permission. Then here, l’ll give it to you:
“You have permission to be yourself.”
Or maybe you need permission to follow your dream so here that is:
“You have permission to follow your dreams.”
And if you’re like me you need it for both:
“You have permission to be yourself and follow your dream”
There, now go do it!
